Taking work from craft to art requires motivation. Nowadays, I find people looking more and more for external motivation.People seem to lack intrinsic motivation and with it, they lack the desire to be.

Most of us want to seem well off, healthy, happy and we are satisfied for as long as our peers believe it.

As for the tech industry, I noticed this trend: people won’t go to work for the small agency/studio that might not pay that well. They prefer spending their time preparing for their job at facebook or google. I met people who told me in great detail how they will get through the interview process and work there and how much they will earn. They just needed to build a bit more credit on hackerrank.com and read a couple more books.

They don’t get that most knowledge comes from doing, not just from digesting content.
